I liked Paul McGann as The Doc .... it's a shame the film he did was so awful!

A strong rumour which has already been mentioned in
this thread is actor David Morrisey, who, in a 'surprise'
move by Moffatt, will actually 'become' the doctor in
one of the four specials set to air in 2009, and more
than likely at the end of the first or second one!

The casting of dramatic roles is exempt from the Sex Discrimination Act.

One thing to remember is the Doctor has only two lifelines left. I wonder if that''s the reason Russell T Davies introduced The Doctor's Daughter in the last series, so the show could run with her instead.

One thing that I don't understand about the show. Since Russell T Davies took over we're led to believe the only survivors from the Doc's planet are him and The Master. What I want to know is where's Susan and what happened to her, the granddaughter from the William Hartnell series. Not only is the actress who played her still alive, but Susan I assume can also regenerate.

You really think they're going to cancel the BBC's most successful drama because of some throwaway lines of dialogue 30 years ago? Two Doctors down the line and he'll fall into a Plot Device and be given another 20 lives.

Perhaps he could go back in time and scrub that line of dialogue!

BTW, as someone who saw the very first episode of DW when it was aired, I think DT has been excellent and I'm sure has revitalised the drama.

We've done that one before - but you missed my subtle joke this time, Bats!

I understand that David Morrissey is the bookies' favourite at the moment.
It would be nice if they could find somebody who could actually act - and not just somebody that the kids like.

I just had a thought. The Doctor's daughter could regenerate into Joanna Lumley, who many believe would be a great Doctor. Maybe as a sequel, or if they do carry-on with the Doctor past his 12 lives, as a spin-off

But remember that for this next series, the executive producer won't be Russell T Davies. He's stepped down and passed control to Steven Moffat.

So who would Steven choose for The Doctor?
Gina Bellman has been in two different series that Steven wrote, Coupling and Jekyll. Could she be the next Doctor?

Steve

Davies is still in charge next year and though he says he has nothing to do with casting, he also says he lies to the Press all the time The smart bet would still be Russell Tovey!
