Default Brian rix farces on tv

Anyone remember the Brian Rix farces being televised on BBC tv in the sixties usually on bank holidays if memory serves me right.

I remember a stage production of 'Reluctant Heroes' broadcast on television but I'm not sure it was BBC.

I remember seeing one of the farces live in London and more than one on television. No memory as to whether it was BBC or ITV.

All the best

Yes, they were a staple part of BBC broadcasting in the early to mid-sixties. I think they were billed as The Whitehall Farces or similar.

Brian Rix, Elspet Gray, Leo Franklyn and Larry Noble are some of the names I recall.

Was it called "Laughter from Whitehall?"

I think I remember In the Soup, and Cuckoo in the nest, - but mainly Brian Rix with his trousers around his ankles!

I remember Dry Rot being shown. The abiding memory I have of these televised Rix farces as as achild was the frequent appearances of Leo Franklin.

I loved 'em as a kid and thought Rixy was really naughty!

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

Yes, I remember the Brian Rix Farces, were they actually filmed with an audience at the Whitehall Theatre? I seem to remember that there was a live audience.
Two particular things I remember - in one play there was a character calles "creases Croker" who was so pleased with the creases of his trousers that he refused to sit down and in another I first head the following joke: Somewhat prissy young man - "Walk this way." Second character (old man) "If I walked that way I'd be arrested". At the time, as a young teenager, I hadn't the faintest idea what that meant.

Innocent but happy days.
