Question Widows

What are the 'Widows' up to. Saw Dolly on Eastenders a while ago, but the others seem to have vanished.

This programme was awesome, best drama series ever.

I'm not 100% sure but I think Maureen O'Farrell runs her own business in Spain (I can't recall what type) and Fiona Hendley is married to Paul Jones of Manfred Mann fame, Eva Mottley commited Suicide at the dawn of 1985 after walking out of the second series and was replaced by Debbie Bishop.......

One of the truly great TV series. I bought a DVD in the US a couple of years ago of the American version which I didn't realise had been made and watched it by chance 2 weeks ago. Not a patch on the original, they tried, but failed miserably and last week that version turned up on TV here, Ch5 I think it was.

The original two series were unmissable and really catapaulted Linda La Plante's career. Some years later they made a follow up, She's Out. All the characters were terrific especially Dolly and the Detective called Resnick.

Real Classic TV at its best.

Default Widows

Yes, I know Eva Mottley was dead. Loved Widows 2, but not as much especially after Linda got killed.

Pity ITV don't do the 'where are they now' programmes anymore, where they used to unite the cast from old programmes. Fox would be great for this too.

Perhaps the gauntlet should be thrown down to Justin Lee Collins to reunite the widows. The way he does it would probably make great viewing.

Unhappy

An update on my original question. A colleague has now told me (and I shall have to google it to make sure it isnt a joke). That one of the Widows has changed her name and is teaching belly dancing in Egypt.(My favourite one as well)

Good luck to her, but what a waste of a fantastic British actress. Especially when you look at the acting talent (or lack of it) on our screens today. Same old muppets seem to move from one series to the next.

If they made Widows today I dread to think what a shower of Sh*t would star in it.

Did anyone ever catch 'She's Out'? that was the 1996 follow up which caught up with Dolly on her release. Widows still remains a great series.

I most certainly did!.......Taped them all and watched it all over again recently, it makes you feel you wish they'd get away with it!

It was a good move to make up Dolly's 'Gang' with some mature Women such as Maureen Sweeney and Linda Marlowe and not just have relative youngsters, when they were actually pulling off the heist and the Railway Carriage was sinking into the River with one of the girls still in it I was literally on the edge of my seat!

Mark O you're very lucky you taped She's Out, I taped Widows and also have both series 1 and 2 on DVD. I watched but never taped She's Out and have tried to get it in DVD only to find its £85 on Amazon.

If I remember rightly doesnt a never previously mentioned policeman brother of Shirleys turn up? What was that all about? Lovely to see Audrey too, one of my favourite characters from Widows and showed what a great actress Kate Williams is.

I remember being delighted to see Dolly but part of me still hoped Linda and Shirley would step out of the shower. (if you get my meaning).
