To a young, impressionable, me - who was a dead keen aircraft buff at the time - The Aeronauts were so cool. I loved those Mirages....

Then I discovered the Saabs - more beautiful Continental planes.

But neither held a candle to the wondeful old English Electric Lightning!

(Sorry to digress awhile there!)

It was at tea-time in the 60s when I was a kid but in the 80s it went out in the holidays IIRC. I have the series on DVD and m'boy loves it.

Happy Birthday Daddy .... I love you!

Don't forget "Champion, the Wonder Horse".

I wouldn't mind seeing "The Aeronauts" again as it's really little more than a title to me now. Maybe I'm mistaken but I remember it as a Saturday morning show, rather than a holiday one? Seem to recall it also ran in comic strip form in...TV 21?

Would also like to see "Whirlybirds" again. You couldn't see much of Robert Altman's future films in it, but Kenneth Tobey is always a pleasure to watch, and I guess helicopters must be too as I was big fan of "Chopper Squad".

Probably not as the english dubbing ( by De Lane Lea) would seem no longer to exist, as is the case with White Horses as well. I have both series in their oirginal language. My understanding is that Network are working on a release of WH with subtitles, but this is very unlikely for Belle Sebastien and the Horses. The english narration version of Three Gifts for Cinderella does still exist ( which I also have) .
These series tended to be on a Monday in the 60s following on from Blue Peter and were often repeated on weekday mornings during summer holidays in the early 70s ( along with the excellent Casey Jones, and Robinson Crusoe) . The Tales from Europe series on the other hand were on a Thursday in the 60s through to the mid 70s. Happy days!

I remember the school holidays of 1972, I am sure the Flashing Blade was on and all the others but I also remember Noggin the Nogg being shown and that old nature series introduced by David Attenborugh from the sixties, this was an interesting choice as the those shows were in black and white and would have looked more dated than a ten year old show would today. Full marks to the beeb for such interesting programming.

Wow - I loathed that. Remember how they had a viewer feature where someone's hobby would be covered? Man, there was some right bobbins on that bit. One I recall was a lad who liked...wait for it...tapping things. TAPPING THINGS. Walking around and just...tapping them. To see what noise they made. Look - here he is now, tapping a fence. Then a door. Then a car. Wtf. I mean come ON. Did the producers ever for one moment think that would capture the imagination the nation's youth?? Holy hell. It made keeping a guinea pig look like base jumping.
