While I loved the series and have the whole lot on DVD I was rather deeply disappointed with the way the Waterloo film ended, with Tam and Hagman dying in a rather unspectacular fashion that was deeply inconsistent with the reality the film series had set up for itself. Budget restrictions or not, I would have expected them to die in a far great, spectacular or heroic fashion, as opposed to some random shot which then just made them keel over. I also wondered they they suddenly turned around and just wandered back to the front, while Sharpe buggered off with Hagman, had a quick peek at Boney and then got to wander off unscathed unconcerned as to the fate of their comrades who had saved their lives on countless ocasions in the past. I only had one word for that kind of poor consistency and I won't repeat it here.

I did enjoy the episode of Vicar of Dibley in which Sean rescued Geraldine ... she who had his photograph hanging next to Jesus on the wall ...

(IMHO)I think the deaths of Harris and Hagman in Waterloo were depicted quite well and typically of how such things tend to happen. It was again through a blunder by the young and inept Prince of Orange during a French attack on the farmhouse, Hagman knocked down by a fleeing cowardly Prince (portrayed on screen) and then shot by a French Infantryman, and Harris falling victim to a bayonet as his only thoughts wer for his fallen comrade.
They had originally left the farm with Sharpe and Harper when Sharpe refused to obey any more of the Princes orders and after witnessing his (the Prince) latest blunder which led to the slaughter of their comrades trying to 'retake' the Farmhouse.
They apparently returned to the Farmhouse out of loyalty and respect for their comrades inside as they knew (I suspect) how desperate the battle for that crucial place was.
And yes I do like the series and have it on DVD along with all the books and the books are excellent...

I also like Sean in other productions and my mobile is O2.........but thats supplied through work....

The only problem with having an open mind is that others keep trying to put things in it...
