I always thought it was a 'tec show too far. A Frankenstein cop show stitched together from the parts of Morse and Taggart and so on the others had discarded.

And then along came the preposterous Inspector Linley to make the whole thing look like classic TV!

One question - when are they going to televise the story (One Small Step) set on a space station on the moon? That would be a laugh.

All men leak.

Yes, very much. I wish they would get a spurt on bringing out the DVDs for those of us who don't have UKTV Drama. Only Series 1 + 2 out thus far .
Only 10 to go
Doesn't Susannah Corbett look like her Dad!

To appreciate this series fully I think it helps to have read Reginald Hill's books. They are beautifully written, with strong plots and in parts very funny. I think Warren Clark does a pretty good job as Andy Dalziel - if anything not as 'Frankenstein' like as the written character.

If you have read the books though, the difference between the stories based on Reginald Hill's books and the others is very obvious. Consequently, series 1,2,3 and 4 plus the two episode 'Dialogues of the Dead' are the ones to collect. The later series are reasonably good TV but not in the same class.

But why haven't series 3 & 4 and 'Dialogues of the Dead come out on DVD? I asked '2 Entertain' (who released 1 & 2) about this recently but they replied that they have no current plans to issue them. They did say that they note enquiries such as mine and if they get similar enquiries they review their publishing policy. Others who are interested might, therefore, think it worth dropping them an e-mail at DVDenquiry@2entertain.co.uk.

I tried to buy the complete series when DD Entertainment released it on DVD as part of their catologue. They sent one DVD a month up to series six unfortunatly with one episode to go I stopped receiving discs. Eventually I got a letter from them telling me they were no longer the licence holder and wouldn't be sending me anymore in the future. Perhaps this licencing issue is the reason for a delay of any future releases.

I'm not a great fan, but the series is watchable, at least it's better than the Hale and Pace attempt. I was never sure if that was supposed to be a comedy or not.

That's the problem I have with the series .... it's not exciting enough to really draw you in and has these 'funny' bits which aren't really funny, and they put me off trying to engage with the 'serious' bits.

Happy Birthday Daddy .... I love you!

I love Dalziel & Pascoe. I love Warren Clarke's dry wit and the contrast of Colin Buchanan's seriousness. They make a wonderful duo but alas I haven't seen it for ages.
