Default Screentest with Michael Rodd

Bound to be a favourite with forum members of a certain age, I loved this show introduced by the avuncular Michael Rodd.

I liked all the clips from Childrens Film Foundation films, especially from the Magnificent Six and Half, can't remember if this film series came before the Double Deckers or afterwards.

Michael Rodd was always the perfect gent, always reminded me of an amiable schoolmaster.

Remember the bit where the young viewers could make their own films and lots of clay models and stop frame animation.

Loved the rousing theme music too!

I met Michael briefly at a magazine awards do in the late 1990s and he was a gent....he didn't get swayed into bad humour by several drunken drunks who gathered to say (of course) didn't he front Newsround and Countryfile...???

This programme was great, I remember being envious of the kids who had cameras so could make there own films. Thinking back such cameras must have been quite expensive in those days, not like buying a cheap camcorder off e bay.

Cant say I can remember Michael Rodd though. If you'd asked me who had presented this I would have said Michael Aspel (think I was getting confused as Ask Aspel was on about the same time I think).

He went on to present 'The Real World' on ITV (remember the 3-D and smell-o-vision experiments?). I remember 'Screen Test' used to show Laurel and Hardy clips quite often too.

Ask Aspel was on during the same period as Screet Test, another of my favourite shows. I remember being really thrilled to see Michael Palin being interviewed on Ask Aspel, it was the first time I ever saw a member of the Python team being interviewed.
