Default Here's weird programme query...

In IMDB, there's a page for mini series Napoleon and Love with a UK release date of March 3rd 1972. In the BFI website they have this series starting on March 3rd 1974 in the UK.

Trawling through the www there are plenty of references to the series starting in 1972 and plenty for 1974!!

Does anybody KNOW which year is correct??

Thanks

They're actually both wrong. The first episode was broadcast on Tuesday March 5, 1974 (source - The Times tv listings page). Though you'd have had to choose between it and an adaptation of Ibsen's Lady from the Sea with Eileen Atkins and Denholm Elliot on BBC2

The IMDb does give 5 March 1972 as the UK release date.
Did you mis-read it cully, or have they only just changed it to the 5th?

Steve

Yes, I did misread it, Steve!

Thanks, Steve, and I've submitted the episodes! I'll be curious to know if your submission "takes" because the last time I brought this subject up with the forum, sienel advised me that IMDB were unlikely to accept such a year change unless they could already see an episode in the programme's episode list to support it. I didn't understand why they should want it done that way but it did work for me. I would have thought they would reject release dates that didn't fit with the year after the title not the other way round.

That is often the case that they'll only change it when they have an episode with that date. But that's easier to get a date changed to an earlier date like that. They often won't change it to a later date. Presumably on the assumption that there might be an earlier episode.

But I bombarded then with as many references as I could find to the release date being 1974, including the one from The Times mentioned by the good Captain, even though they can't see that unless they have library access.

Let's see if it "takes"

Steve
