Default Jack Douglas

Jack Douglas (now remembered mostly for his Carry On appearances) used to appear on TV as a character called Alf Ippitittymus. I remember him working with Des O'Connor, but I'm not sure if this was a one-off teaming or whether they did a double act for a while.

The Alf character's act was based around an affliction that caused him at intervals to convulse, often displacing his flat cap, and let forth a 'WAHEY!'. Very odd, and was probably the first TV depiction of someone suffering from Tourette's syndrome.

I was going to say that this would seem very un-PC for modern tastes, but thinking about the Andy (wheelchair skiver) and Mary (faux mental illness) characters in Little Britain maybe it's not the case now.

An episode of Quincey dealt with the subject of Tourettes syndrome, it portrayed a young concert pianist who suffered from this affliction.

They were not a team, they just did the "bit of business" whenever Jack appeared on Des's shows.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR...YOU MAY GET IT!

He appears in pantomime doing this character.
