It is evident that your opinion and mine are wide apart.........so be it

I've spent too long working in A&E departments and operating theatres putting people like Hammond together again when all of us, in the team at that time, know fairly well that they'll probably do it again.

The private sector doesn't have trauma facilities so he would have been treated, until stable, at a NHS establishment. The current cost of an ICU bed is nigh on £1,500 a day......................exclusive of pharamaceutical costs, lab fees and radiography services. Additionally he would have "blocked" an ICU bed with all the knock on effects that go with it.

Smile 3 stoogies

I thought we might get round to the accident. I'm on the side of not letting a moron near a 300 MPH car. If you remember the 3 stoogies done a night race in a Diesel BMW and if I'm right they had an accident with a 200 thousand pound Mossler.Personally if I owned the Mossler The little Moron would have been back in intensive care.
There was a show where they raced motorhomes. It turns out my brother went to look at one of them and couldnt afford to buy it.Then along comes morons and write them off. Does no one stop to think that this is not a motor show anymore but a PR stunt for wasting taxpayers money on these clowns.
I would love to find out if clarkson came from a motoring background as he has never seemed clued up knowledge wise on older cars.
Over rated all 3.

If every criminal who had put their victim in hospital through any means were made to pay for all medical and care costs incurred would that be more of a deterrent in some cases than jailing them?

I don't think the three presenters would describe themselves as motorcar engineers. Clarkson has always been a journalist, Hammond likewise and May has a classical music background.

It's interesting to note that the more outrageous the stunt, the less the presenters are actually involved.

Examples:

The stunt where a rocket powered Mini was blasted down a ski jump in Norway was designed and constructed by a private group of mechanical engineers' known as the Rocketeers.

Similarly when a Reliant Robin "Space Shuttle" was built it was, again, the aforementioned Rocketeers who did all the hard graft.

2) No-one on Earth could have handled that car when the tyre punctured at speeds approaching 300mph.....it wasn't driver error nor was it avoidable...

LOL! I should damn well think it was avoidable, by the simple means of not getting in the feckin thing!

I wish you guys could see what it is really like at Dunsfold Aerodrome where it is filmed! I got some tickets for doing the Beeb production team a favour, and I can honestly say I had never heard so many four-letter words outside secondary school! And there were two kids there, well under 18, which didn't stop them. To be honest, and particularly as I go on TV for two short segments at last, it was good seeing the whole caboodle. But it has come a long way from being a programme about the latest cars...Fifth Gear covers that quite well, and if you really want info about cars for the common man, buy AUTOCAR (I was in Letters last week!), or AUTO EXPRESS.

Oh the one you can see me on is the one with Sir Michael Gambon who came on early for his interview as he had to be helicoptered away to London for a show I think it was. To get tickets now is absolutely impossible..they calculated that they have a 300 year backlog!
