I fell asleep on the bed clutching a copy of 'House beautiful'. If anybody knows how I can see it (probably, so I can pour more unnecessarily vitriolic scorn on the poor beggars) then please let me know.

Episode two was definately an improvement on the slightly disapointing first part, though I'm also wondering how Elizabath Bennett is getting on. Writer Guy Andrews was responsible for one of my all-time favourite series, Chancer, so I thought this would be worth sticking with.

It's on the ITV iPlayer equivalent on their website. Like others, I thought the second episode was very enjoyable.

What was that comedy series that had a sketch where Jane Austen characters send each other faxes and e-mails? Was it "Big Train"?

Despite Sir Olly's wonderful inventiveness - I think that's when the idea entered the zeitgeist. This lot probably didn't even realise it had been done before or that they were (subconsciously) nicking it . . . (turns to camera) or did they?

If I had a swimming pool, it would probably burn down . . .

Thankyou.

I managed to watch it.

I still feel the same way, really. It is entertaining enough and I thought there were a couple of very funny observations, but, I still feel the same way.

I'm still going to watch it next week, though.

The girl who plays Miss Price is very attractive, charasmatic and quite a fine actress, I hope we get to see more of her (see her in other productions I mean).

Jemima Rooper previously starred in the series Hex (which aired on Sky 1) alongside Christina Cole, who plays Caroline Bingley in Lost in Austen. JM's character in that series was very much meant to be a comic sidekick to Cole's sub-Buffy lead, but Jemima Rooper completely stole the show, to the extent that Christina Cole's character was killed off at the beginning of season two.

She's been around for ages - she was George in an excellent period series of the Famous Five back in the 1990s.

I accidentally wandered in to the Jane Austen festival yesterday!

Bath Festivals - What's On

I was there avisiting and suddenly the place was awash with loud US women (sorry, not in the least bit anti - just being accurate) bellowing orders to each other whilst dressed as demure ladies! Haha! It was quite a sight! Plus, someone got really excited about 'Marks and Spencers' and took a photo. Awwww!

I had a conversation with two British fans and I am afraid the consensus is not favourable amongst this small demographic of Austen fans. They feel the same way as me - although I wouldn't call myself 'a fan' as such.

Great fun though, lots of old gents dressed up as dashing soldiers (I think there is more to come too if you wanted to go.)

Other than that I had a chat with a coule of young men regarding Jane Austen and sadly, even though they study there - they wouldn't pick up a book by Jane. The romantic images have tainted the idea too much for them.

I think it is a shame, as the general 'feel' of Bath hasn't really altered that much and I think interesting comparisons could be made. Fascinating to watch.

I think Lost in Austen has been getting better with each episode, and I'll be genuinely sad to see it end next week.

It was a lovely touch for Amanda to have Darcy recreate Colin Firth's emergence from the lake - a scene which is unique to the Colin Firth TV version.

As a fab of Guy Andrews' first hit series, Chancer, I was amused in the preview of next week's episode to here Hugh Bonneville's Mr Bennett say it's time to take the weapons from the wall (and actually get them down from said load bearing structure).

Weapons from the Wall is the title of the first episode of Chancer, which features a young Hugh Benneville in a small role.

Well I found it amusing anyway...

Quite right as well, I always enjoy the fact the the Kikuyu tribe is mentioned in The Jokers (1967) which stars Rachel Kempson who also stars in Out of Africa (1985) where the Kikuyu tribe feature strongly.

FReddy

The world wags on.

I should have typed, of course, that I'm a fan of Chancer, not a fab, whatever one of those is!

This programme reminds me of a novel I read by Jasper fforde called " First among Sequels ". Roughly its about characters jumping in and out of books, a bit wierd really.
