Jemima Rooper previously starred in the series Hex (which aired on Sky 1) alongside Christina Cole, who plays Caroline Bingley in Lost in Austen. JM's character in that series was very much meant to be a comic sidekick to Cole's sub-Buffy lead, but Jemima Rooper completely stole the show, to the extent that Christina Cole's character was killed off at the beginning of season two.

I accidentally wandered in to the Jane Austen festival yesterday!
Bath Festivals - What's On I was there avisiting and suddenly the place was awash with loud US women (sorry, not in the least bit anti - just being accurate) bellowing orders to each other whilst dressed as demure ladies! Haha! It was quite a sight! Plus, someone got really excited about 'Marks and Spencers' and took a photo. Awwww! I had a conversation with two British fans and I am afraid the consensus is not favourable amongst this small demographic of Austen fans. They feel the same way as me - although I wouldn't call myself 'a fan' as such. Great fun though, lots of old gents dressed up as dashing soldiers (I think there is more to come too if you wanted to go.) Other than that I had a chat with a coule of young men regarding Jane Austen and sadly, even though they study there - they wouldn't pick up a book by Jane. The romantic images have tainted the idea too much for them. I think it is a shame, as the general 'feel' of Bath hasn't really altered that much and I think interesting comparisons could be made. Fascinating to watch. |

I think Lost in Austen has been getting better with each episode, and I'll be genuinely sad to see it end next week.
It was a lovely touch for Amanda to have Darcy recreate Colin Firth's emergence from the lake - a scene which is unique to the Colin Firth TV version. As a fab of Guy Andrews' first hit series, Chancer, I was amused in the preview of next week's episode to here Hugh Bonneville's Mr Bennett say it's time to take the weapons from the wall (and actually get them down from said load bearing structure). Weapons from the Wall is the title of the first episode of Chancer, which features a young Hugh Benneville in a small role. Well I found it amusing anyway... |

Quite right as well, I always enjoy the fact the the Kikuyu tribe is mentioned in The Jokers (1967) which stars Rachel Kempson who also stars in Out of Africa (1985) where the Kikuyu tribe feature strongly. FReddy |
