In co-operation with a German McGoohanista, the little-told story of
John Drake's popularity in West Germany is now accessible - to some degree - in this essay: Shades Of Black And White Beginning with propositions about the influences of Film Noir upon the 'Danger Man' series of 1960, the essay explores those film noir ideas and how they themselves originated in the German cinematic tradition of Expressionist Cinema. The essay then tells a brief tale of how John Drake migrated into German Pulp Fiction in the 500-plus comic-book series: Geheimauftrag für John Drake.
