Default Coronation street are there any missing episodes

I always assumed at one stage that every episode of Coronation Street has been preseved, but I am not sure if that is the case. I know when it started that one episosde went out live and the next nights episode would be recorded.

When Granada Plus started in the late ninenties I think they started showing Corrie from 1971 onwards.

With so many episodes tramsmiited over nearly forty egiht years one would think i would be an awesome task to keep each episode.

I have tried looking this info up on the net but no avail.

I am aware that lot of Crossroads episodes were wiped, there are some early episodes on the respective boxed dvd sets.

I'm pretty sure all episodes of Corrie are preserved, several Christmas days ago Granada plus showed the first 16.......and we Fans wanted more!

When Granada plus first started, '96 I think, the reruns of old Corries were one of it's selling points, 'Mavis' introduced we viewers and the Spring of '76 was chosen as the start of the reruns with Elsie Tanner's return to the famous cobbles as the first episode, Mavis explained at this time many of the original stalwarts were still with the show such as Ena Sharples, Minnie Caldwell, etc; plus there were several then fairly new faces such as Gail, Deirdre, etc;

Then a few years ago, without warning, no more Granada plus!, which also meant the end of the Corrie reruns which had reached the mid-80's

Thanks for this Mark.

Granada Plus was a good station, it was very good for repeats of old comedies that havent been seen for years.

It was bhowells, if GP hadn't pulled the plug I guess the long awaited repeat showings of 'Yus my dear', and 'Don't drink the water' would have been aired by now!

Hi Mark,
I have the first episode of "Don't Drink The Water" if you're interested.

I'm not a fan of Corrie or any soap for that matter, but I had to buy the 1960's box set of Corrie for old times sake and I loved watching the very early episodes especially from the very first up to xmas of 1960. Very happy memories and great acting.

I used to watch GP back home and enjoyed so many great shows, it's a shame they pulled the plug on it.
