The 9/11 Hotel
Superb, skilfully made Channel 4 documentary – a relative of mine from New Zealand had stayed at the 22 storey Marriott World Trade Center Hotel situated between the twin towers, just about a year earlier.
There was new information/interviews and new, shocking photographs in one the finest and most moving programmes I've seen on the 9/11 catastrophe.
One of the hotel guests – a wonderful Irish gentleman tried to save a young woman who had been soaked and burned by aviation fuel having been walking just outside the hotel – he comforted and prayed for her – but she died 40 days later. When he returned home, so relieved to have escaped death, he discovered that his younger sister and her daughter had been in the second plane to hit the World Trade Center.
