Default Stock sitcom plots

Winning the pools but forgetting to post the coupon.
Boss coming round to dinner
Driving pregnant wife to the hospital in a traffic jam
Flashback espisodes with war time sweehearts
Vicar coming around for items for church jumble sale with hilarious results
The above have been n used in many sitcoms particurarly the predictable by number plots of the likes of Vince Powell and Harry Driver and Mortimer and Cooke.

You missed out the one about overhearing the doctor say you were pregnant or very ill and not realising he was talking about someone else.

Posting a letter of resignation to the the boss, only to realise it was all due to a misunderstanding, and trying to get the letter back before the boss reads it.

Middle-aged blokes chasing young women (a favourite plot of On the Buses)

That's an episode from Fawlty Towers unless I'm much mistaken.

Yes you are right, Sbyils Anniversary, she does indeed storm off, all her friends arrive and Basil has to say that Sybil is sick. He gets Polly to disguise herself as Sybil complete with wig lying on her sickbed as all her friends gather round her.

Arguing neighbours. The husbands are argumentative with each other whereas the wives behave in a conciliatory manner towards each other.

Trying to push elderly parents into an old folks home and being patronising about it, also used in soaps.
