Default Coronation street characters of yesteryear

Some will still be remembered, like Jerry Booth, but who remembers his wife Sheila Birtles.

Irma and Trevor Ogden, Harry and Concepta Hewitt and Lucille, Doreen Lostock. Ken Barlows second wife Janet, Dave Smith the bookie played by Reginald Marsh, Joe Lynch as a beaux of Elsie Tanners cab driver Ron Latham.

Finally two obscure characters that I often like to mention Dickie and Audrey Fleming I think Ray Langton was friendly with them and very freindly with Audrey.

When Gail Tilsley (Potter) first came into it she had a friend I think she was called Tricia (played by someone I believe was called Kathy Jones) this person was a much better actress and more attractive than Helen Worth and I'm surprised that the Gail character was kept and the Tricia character written out.

Always interested me how many people appeared in both Crossroads and Corrie. I think Reginald Marsh did both.

Coronation St Pinup of the Fortnight

I hope this at least will "take", Dai. I tried to post a picture of of Kathy Jones from way back but I made a mess of it... It should be here.

I recall Kathy Jones(Tricia) was a fine singer as well, she put Rita to shame!

I liked the time Gary Raymond played The love interest of Bet Lynch on a trip

to Blackpool . Bet managed to unwittingly talk him out of a night of passion,

It was very funny!

Proper Lancashire lasses, Larry Curly and Mo:

Minnie Caldwell was directly responsible for me (aged 6) asking my Dad for a Milk Stout when we were on holiday. I reasoned that if that nice Minnie drank it it must be good for you. He bought one (for himself!) and let me have a sip. I didn't ask again

Anne Cunningham who played Linda Cheveski from the first episode in 1960 lives round our way. In fact, I saw her last week while waiting to see the doctor in our local surgery. She hasn't changed much in all those years to her credit.

A long time friend of my youngest son, was the (I think) THIRD husband
of Jennifer moss, who used to play Lucille Hewitt, way back in the early days!

Yes it was Kathy Jones and she was more attractive than Gale, something in the back of my mind tells me that she also appeared in on of those childrens shows in on ITV in the same slot as Rainbow in the mid seventies, but I am not positive.

I do know that Tricia in Corrie was Tricia Hopkins the daughter of a Welsh couple who were in the Street for a brief time. Kathy Staff played the Mother. They didnt take off as a family they all got written out execpt Tricia who stayed for a while and formed something of a double act with Gale.

Later on of course Gale had another best mate Susie Burchill, they were lodgers at Elsie Tanners place.

Stan Stennett appeared in Corrie and Crossroads, so did Johnny Briggs, Sue Nichols who plays Audrey was Marilyn Gates in the yearly years of Crossroads.

Kathy Staff was in Corrie and Crossroads. There must be quite a few more and maybe forum memebers can help out here. Another one I remember is Edward Peel, who was Stan Harvey, he was in Coronation Street for a very brief time many years after he left Kings Oak.

That's fantastic, Cully I am well impressed. I do remember her as Linda but I was very young indeed, but I cleary recall her coming backto the street for a little while in the eightes along with her son.

Anne 'Linda' was asked to return to the Street in 1984 after a 16 year absence to oversee the sale of her Mother's house as Elsie had gone to live in Portugal with Bill Gregory (Jack Watson), she had a few dates with Bill Webster but unfortunately the Producers decided it wasn't going to work so sadly Anne was written out after her short stint......

Anne's screen son Martin lodged with Elsie for several months in 1980

It's nothing to do with Corrie but, quite coincidentally, I was in the same surgery today and the patient seeing the nurse was Moray Watson who lives in the street next door!
