Default Actor's name please

I think the actor I'm looking for maybe a son of Stanley? Holloway? who apparently did voice overs & commercial voice work.

IIRC there was a documentary some years ago & the actor I'm sure said something like "Dad lost out on the Mr Kipling voice" the actor in question has been in scores of teledramas over the years esp the 70's.

Or was I dreaming/tripping?

For many years the voice for the Mr Kipling ads was James Hayter.

I seem to remember Cyril Shaps (superb actor !) being mentioned in connection with this, too. His son is Simon Shaps, who is (or was) a TV bigwig.

I remember that quote from Julian Holloway. Towards the end of his father's life he asked him what regrets he had. All that Stanley could come up with was the fact that he'd missed out on the Mr Kipling voice-over! Not bad, eh ?

Marky was spot on with Julian Holloway but in my minds eye there was another actor saying the words, really annoying.

I can see his face now! Slightish build, short dark hair with a side parting a bit Bryan Marshall. Julian Holloway lookie likey......ish

Been in tons of stuff, done voiceovers, adverts.......Jesus!

Default Michael Jayston?

Just a suggestion - did make lots of 70s TV appearances including Quiller and then a million voice overs.

Michael Jayston's in Emmerdale at the moment - and Geoffrey Davies's daughter, Emma, is playing his daughter in it.

Always thought that MJ's excellent portrayal of the ill-fated Nicholas II in Nicholas and Alexandra never got the proper recognition it deserved.

Another possible Bond from the past. He will be leaving Emmerdale soon.

Yes - Janet Suzman as Alexandra received an Oscar nomination but Jayston faced tough competition for the Best Actor shortlist and wasn't so lucky.

Loved him in "A Bit of a Do" and over the years the voice on many commercials.

Also excellent in the Thriller episode A Coffin for the Bride with Helen Mirren.
