Default Julia and trains....bliss!

Watch out for this.....

Unlike the Meridian series earlier this year, the BBC's Railway Walks with Julia Bradbury covers the whole of Great Britain. It kicks off on BBC4 on Thursday 2 October with:
DERBYSHIRE: MONSAL TRAIL - BAKEWELL TO BUXTON
This is followed on the next five Thursdays by
WALES: MAWDDACH TRAIL - DOLGELLAU TO BARMOUTH
CORNWALL: MINERAL TRAMWAYS - PORTREATH TO DEVORAN
SCOTLAND: SPEYSIDE WAY - CRAIGELLACHIE TO BALLINDALLOCH
DORSET: WEYMOUTH TO PORTLAND
SCOTLAND: CALLANDER TO KILLIN

In fact it's a full evening's railway interest as follows:
8.00 - Hindsight Beeching. A rerun of an interview with Doctor Beeching as Chairman of BR.
8.30 - Railway walks.
9.00 - 10.00 - Ian Hislop goes off the rails. Hislop investigates the background to and the impact of the Beeching Report.
10.00 - 10.55 - Great Railway Journeys. Victoria Wood in the North of England.

Default Railway themes

Excellent set of railway programmes and a great picture of the lovely Julia
The BBC4 railway theme of programmes starts today at 8.10-9.00pm with a tale of trains and attempted assassination in The Avengers in Colour 1966/67 series: A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Station.

Thanks,Rob - you've just solved a clue in the Dalesman magazine crossword:
Monsal.
Looking forward to the series as well.

The Monsal and Tissington trails are lovely walks and the view from Monsal Head is wonderful. I always call in to the Cheese Shop in Hartington too.

Some interesting routes planned for transmission
