I remember when on Fern Britton's This Is Your Life, her father Tony said it was a thrill when ever asked 'You're Fern Britton's father.'

There are quite a few others in this country

Jenny Hanley of Magpie and Softly Soflty is the daughter of Jimmy Hanley and Dinah Sheridan

Going Live's Emma Forbes is the daughter of Bryan Forbes and Nanette Newman

Though he wasn't an actor Clement Freud is the father of fellow presenter Emma Freud

Ossie and Sharon are the parents of presenters Jack and Kelly Osbourne

Is this the nepotism thread?

I know a few of my actor friends used to get a bit peeved when this went on. At one point on TV all the main presenters of roughly 'our generation' were the daughters and sons of famous people.

I suppose, in one way, they've seen the life thats lived and so are more prepared for it, but I can see why they were peeved.

I'm sorry if the thread causes offence to anyone, it wasn't my intention. Everyone of the presenters I've mentioned does a marvelous job, regardless of their parentage.

No - it doesn't cause offence - sorry - it was just a sub topic for discussion, I suppose.

When I was a lot younger I was compared to Emma Freud (although I don't think I am anything like her or look like her) so I used to watch bits and bobs she had done with some strange viewing quirk, I suppose.

Anyway, I don't think she or Emma Forbes brought anything to the table that an awful lot of other people couldn't..that was all..likewise Zoe Ball.
I just know that it was annoying for struggling actors/presenters to see people walk in to jobs because of who they knew and what their name was. It isn't always the case..but as it happens an awful lot here - I think it is something that could be looked at.

I just think it is an interesting subject..but I will raise it elsewhere if you like.

But it's not all nepotism on TV
Raymond Baxter has no family or marital connection to Biddy Baxter (Blue Peter supremo)
Sports presenter Sue Carpenter is not relation (AFAIK) to sports presenter Harry Carpenter
Sports presenter Sharron Davies is not relation (AFAIK) to sports presenter Dickie Davies

There's nothing wrong with nepotism as long as you keep it in the family
