Default Don't let the judges get their hands on John Sergeant !

They are getting really fed up with him being there. That's one reason why we mus'nt let the judges get their hands on him or he'll be out straight away.

Plus we don't want to see the end of the lovely Kristina !!

John is the dancer that most of us would be if we took up ballroom dancing as forty/fifty-something adults. OK, he's no Adonis and he's not technically perfect but you know, he goes out there and enjoys himself and gives it his best shot. And even though he has his faults, he still manages to entertain us. Isn't that what dancing should be about?

Go John!!

Strictly Come Dancing apparently.

The judges on the programme were fed up with the bad dancers being voted back in week after week at the expense of better ones, so the BBC kow-towed to them and changed the format. Although it doesn't give them as much power as I'm sure they'd like, they get far more control over who stays and who goes than they actually should. No doubt they threatened to 'walk' if they didn't get what they wanted! (I'd have let them go myself!)
Considering the public pay for this programme - both with the licence fee AND with Premium Rate phone calls - it was a step too far for me......and the reason why I stopped watching this programme a couple of series ago.
It's only really worth watching if all of the bad ones stay and the good ones go!

The Sunday night programme is pre-recorded immediately after the Saturday night one ends - why?

It used to be quite an entertaining programme. Now they've 'done it to death', run out of well-known celebrities and taken the element of surprise out of it.
Personally, I'd love to see John Sargeant win it (as he could have done in the earlier series), but, unfortunately, the new format means that he doesn't stand a chance.

There's one aspect of "Strictly Come Prancing" which puts it streets ahead of anything else. Simon bl@@*y Cowell is nowhere to be seen!!!

Agreed, I reckon grey power rules so it should. It is awful that the judges are so obviously trying to get him out. If he survives tonight will he be too much of a gentleman to raise two fingers, in a Churchillian salute of course, to the judges?

The problem with the judging, is that the home audience and the Judges are looking for totally different things. And whilst you have to hand it to John Sargeant for his entertainment value. in truth, as a dancer he is the worst by far (but he's still light years ahead of me!). In the end, we have to accept that the Judges have a right to be upset. They are there to pass professional opinions of the calibre of the dancing, not John's entertainment value.

Sadly, it's just been reported that John Sargeant has quit SCD.

Thumbs up

I for one will vote for him,the fact being is he has lost over two stone so far far doing it.
And you can clearly see that its true, added to the fact that we as the public pay.
If the show was just about dance and the judges only voting,we would then be seeing how bias in the sense of them having their own favorites.
The moment the judges thought the show was about them, for me was the turning point of voting for John and Kristina.
The judges tried to balance things out last week and must have been told not to openly attack John.
But the public saw through it and even if he had gone this week someone has to go the next.
We have the vote and I for one will only vote for John.

Lenny,
I fully understand (and agree with) your views, but how can you vote for John if he has quit already?

Quit? He was pushed. Frankly, I don't watch this, but it does make me laugh, whenever the media – especially broadcast – tell the viewers/listensers "It's up to you – you make the decisions" ....that's crap. This and other occasions (even the naming of a Blue Peter cat for heavens sake) prove it. What sticks out by a mile is sergeant's quote about "I might win" ....that's the problem, not whether he should/could go on. He's had a phone call from the production team I'll bet.
Didn't that fat lad on X Factor 'quit' when he was near the winning post a couple of years ago? We can't have an 'ugly' winner!
Rachel Stevens and co must have been quaking in their kinky boots poor luvs!
I'd LOVE it if there was a Brand/Ross storm about this and the show's producers had to put him back in! Then I would be watching/voting and all you lot must too.

The only time I've ever witnessed true public access - with a 7 second expletive delay - was the much missed Allan Beswick Show on Red Rose Radio.

Simon Cowell would never do SCD because for the simple fact that he couldn't make money out of it.
