Default Christmas TV

Stella Street always used to be on at Christmas and I miss it. If people don't mind I will use this thread to amuse myself by playing bits of it - but feel free to whatever...stuff that is on - stuff you miss...

But this is funny

and so is this:

One production I remember from some time in the 80s was a load of comedians, mainly from shows like The Fast Show and its ilk, all being kids in a school nativity play. I've never seen it again since, and I wish they'd show it again.

Another one I liked was The Greatest Department Store on Earth (I think). A homeless single mum and her daughters camp out at Christmas in a department store. Anyone remember it?

Maybe you could add the Smith and Jones Homemade Xmas Video to your watching pleasure list?

Part 1 of 4 on YouTube.

Well, if you told them I designed it, d'you think that might help?

I remember both those and I loved both of them.

The nativity play sounded like just a bit of a lark about - but, actually, it showed how complicated life is for children of that age - all the emotions and the way they have to handle their parents situation etc..

and 'The Greatest store on Earth' - I wish they would repeat it. Excellent..in all ways..I think I remember the kids playing it nice and natural, Dervla Kirwan was spot on, it made it's point beautifully and still managed to remain entertaining and 'christmassy' - wonderful.

Yes so do I which is why I'm horrified to learn he is joining the Royle family, IMHO a stomach-turningly unfunny "comedy". But he was so transcendantly good in Little Dorrit I shall avert my eyes and forgive him (Billy Liar would appreciate this smilie)

If I could find a place that makes me feel like Tiffany's

The Royle Family Christmas Special was a wonderful piece of television. Funny, sad and real. Sure beats endless reruns of The Good Life.

So I assume it may be next Christmas or later before we see the latest special.

I thought it was a great idea to reunite 'Billy' and 'Barbara' from Billy Liar ...Tom Courtenay and Helen Fraser.... as husband and wife on the Royale Family christmas special. All these years later, Billy ended up with his prissie girlfriend. Mind you, we've all had our Liz's eh?
