Given the multitude of minority interest channels on Sky scratching a living, there must surely be room for one showing all those ITV filmed series from the 'sixties. The Saint, Man In A Suitcase, Department S, The Champions, the Avengers, The Baron, Dangerman, The Prisoner, Jason King etc. etc.

I'd watch.

Alan,considering the rubbish that is on the terrestrial channels now anyway,if rid of them,there would plenty of room for these golden oldies. I am sure they would fit well in the afternoon schedules.

Thanks Marky B - I make no great claims for those old shows except that I remember them with fondness - they had a slickness and filmic quality lacking in much of their rather pedestrian contemporaries; typical were their pacy and nicely produced title sequences.

Most of them are now out on DVD or if not, will soon hopefully be coming out. I loved practically all of the ITC catalogue. Harmless entertainment. One of my favourites is "Randall and Hopkirk Deceased." It's a bloody shame Mike Pratt died so young.... [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry.gif[/img]

A few must have aired on the old Bravo and Granada Plus; certainly The Persuaders, The Saint, The Prisoner, UFO and Randall and Hopkirk have turned up on Sky.

True there are believe it or not some things worth watching and at least I've not got a rock steady picture on Channel 5, but I actually watch much less TV now than what I used to. I never though when I got the Freeview box, I could listen to the radio as well and in digital! I find myself listening more and more to the radio these days or could it be I'm now an old codger.... [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img]

Gotta agree there, Mike Pratt died at a young age, I love R&H(D), it was that series that got me into the I.T.C. TV stuff. I've even met both Annette Andre and Kenneth Cope over the years, shame I never got the chance to meet MP [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif[/img]
All of the ITC series were recorded at either Elstree or Pinewood and the locations are superb, using the English countryside and all those lovely stately homes etc. A lot of the time making them out to be somewhere in Spain or some other country.
I'm getting quite excited for the fact that 'Department S' is finally coming out on DVD (Its already apparantly released in Australia), such an amazing series that that has never been repeated on terrestrial TV. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif[/img] [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif[/img]

I've imported the Umbrella DVD boxset of Department S from Australia. They've done a good job. Jason King? What a guy. He reminds me of Jack Regan from the Sweeney in the sheer amount of Scotch he can knock back and still stay on his feet. Quite literally in every episode from both series the guvnor and King drink their livers away. Not to mention of course smoking like chimneys. After that of course the similarites end as poor old Jason wouldn't stand a chance in the Flying Squad. My understanding is that Umbrella have the rights to Jason King - the spin off series and that Peter Wyngarde has already done some of the commentary on them. It also used to show some great old films, including many of the CFF films.
But then it was rebranded for the Yoof market. It's sadly missed
