Seemed to be nothing more than a vehicle for Kelvin (spit) McKenzie to eulogise about the tabloid media rather than a serious documentary.

Yes, I think they should have got different people to be involved in the programme if they were gonna take it from that angle. Disapointing! I was really looking forward to it to, its been quite hyped up.

it was the usual rehash of old 'evidence' being claimed to have been 'recently revealed'(anyone who is interested in the ripper case already knows about bests authorship of the 'dear boss' letter),a whitechapel 'walkabout' and the obligatory appearances of donanld rumbelow and sir christopher frayling (he seems to be on every documentary that i watch!)
i liked kelvin(beelzebub)mckenzies insistance on using a particular etching for the front page 'mock up' of what he would have used for 'the star' after the annie chapman murder-yes,kelvin,it was more exciting that the one your graphic designer chose but unfortunately it was depicting the murder of mary jane kelly 3months after your supposed front page-typical mckenzie, ignoring fact for sensationalism!

I thought this sounded potentially interesting, but as soon as I saw Kelvin McKenzie was involved I took a hike. Sounds like I made the right decision.

Just watched this potentially interesting documentary ... but I agree ... it was very disappointing

At least we spared the Jordan of 1888 on page 3.

When you look at the thread titles, this reads Jack the Ripper docu channel. Which seems only too plausible

This programme was pretty much a waste of film when I think about it, I would have enjoyed the Michael Caine ripper film more if they had put it on instead

Some years back we had Barlow and Watt investigate Jack The Ripper but it had a poor ending and never came to any clear conclusion. Probably as poor as the present documentary.

i've never seen this personally(would love to,mind!)but considering it was aired not long after thomas stowells 'royal conspiracy' debut, its non conclusion is admirable! the 1970s (mostly stowell and stephen knight) did more to cloud the identity of the killer more than anyone in the following 20 years than the actual investigating police force of the time with their 'royal conspiracies'-ask anyone with no real knowledge of the case and they'll claim to know the killer was ''the queens doctor''! let's face it-unless anyone comes up with DNA evidence(which has been attempted recently) then the identity of the most famous serial killer ever has been lost forever ............cue mike barrett!

I take your point but having sat through all the episodes without any conclusions being reached seemed a somewhat waste of time! Maybe I was expecting something more from Barlow and Watt.
Short of looking at the episodes again I don't think the Qyueen's doctor was ever mentioned. They did however conclude that the deaths were caused by someone with anatomcal knowledge.
