I'm sure you won't regret it Dave, they are truly excellent.

I am SO glad that Network have finally got the clearances together to release this series of the show - at last we can do away with our old bootlegs and downloads and enjoy these brilliant stories properly....

I loved the way the series evolved and Marker's interaction with Gash(the Private Eye with new methods)The actor who played him died at quite an early age. But yes great series and I must invest in it soon.

Mid 50's actually - but I've got two older teenage sons!

I like most of the other drama series that were mentioned - probably Edge of Darkness is my no. 1 - the late Bob Peck - superb.

Jekyll would get my vote as best series so far this century. From a bygone age, I have happy memories of House Of Cards, The Man In Room 17, The Caesars (which imo gave I Claudius a run for its money) Mystery And Imagination and Rogues' Gallery. As for my # 1: I agree with all the contributors who picked Edge Of Darkness.

. . . and new thumbscrews for me . . .

I feel I must comment! As an Aussie, who loves British drama, I have to say the list is really endless...I loved "When the Boat Comes In". "Edge of Darkness", "The Sweeney" and "The Bill" (before it became a soapie). I look forward to the next installment as it's the best drama we get.
As long as our government pays for it, keep the good shows coming. I go back as far as Z Cars and a Maigret............No one does it as well as you do!

I have to agree with Prof Marcus, Jekyll is just brilliant. I have watched the entire series in one sitting twice in the last few days. It is that good.

I also really enjoyed the Sweeny Todd production with Ray Winstone as Sweeny.

…time is short. So you gotta ask yourself: Are you a fighter, Fish Queen, or are you zombie food?

It's gone back to being a good cop drama. It had a cracking good 8 part storyline, but the last episode didn't record.
