Maybe a new Sky dish will do the trick?

Thaks DB7,

I'm just in the process of buying one on E-Bay.The seller lives in the Falklands.
Unbelievable price but postage is a killer.

Cheers!

Dave.

i'd be very careful buying one of those off e-bay, some of them come in Kits that you have to assemble yourself and the instructions are printed by MFI, if i was you i'd invest in some airfix glue

Well ITV4s early evening slots are looking fantastic. They are showing some old favourites including Department S, Jason King, The Protectors, The Persuaders and The Saint. Have a look over at ITV.com. They launch 1st November.

In most of programmes there is a natural break in the film production where a scene fades out, which is where the ad breaks used to occur. One disappointing thing with ITV4's re-runs of old series is that they cut in mid scene and even in mid-conversation to go to the ad break. I don't know why this is, could it be that they're using trainees, or is it because they have more ad breaks now than when the series were first broadcast in the 60s and 70s?

My only other gripe, and this goes for all commercial Freeview channels, is that the adverts are repeated over and over every break. The new Guiness one is very well made and funny but seeing it three to four times an hour is just too much, and on every commercial Freeview channel too. The same goes for Citroen's Happy Days one, an on-line insurance company, and strippers and new ring tones to your mobile!

I am assuming that because it takes time to establish commercial interest in a channel they must give special deals to companies which includes multiple repeats of the same ad, like 12 plays for the price of 7, or 4 channels for the price of 2 or something. The only way round it for the viewer is to record the programme and just zap through the ad breaks.

I edit out the commercial breaks before recording to DVD, so I can confirm that without fail all the 60 minute ITV4 shows have three breaks in the hour, usually at about 10, 30, 45 minutes.

Were these shows (Persuaders, Saint, et al) scheduled for an hour in this country when first broadcast? I can't remember but would hazard they were an hour in the States, 50 minutes in this country? That would give today's broadcasters opportunity for longer and more frequent breaks!

Most fitted the hour slot format apart from The Protectors which was just 30 minutes.
