The attached link is to a BBC news clip which says that over 60 public information films are going to be put on the Central Office of Information website in the coming months

The ones on it so far go up to 1950

At least it'll save buying the Charley Says DVD

Not quite late enough for nostalgia but it certainly brought back memories of similar films from a slightly later period.

Enjoyed Charley in New Town as a friend's father had been one of the architects who designed Basildon - if that isn't a misnomer!

I would have thought since the London bombings,we would have had Public Informations about being alert to terrorism.
Just a thought.

The one that flashed in my mind today was the one about mixing radial tyres with crossply on the same axle! Lethal stuff. I used to have a Commer Caravanette when I was young and foolish, and this had cross-plies, which were dangerous even if you had the full set! It was like driving a train because when you got into a rut on a road you couldn't steer out of it very easily and you just went where the road took you!

This is a great site, the sort of thing I've been looking for for ages. Just want them to go back in time now, to include wartime stuff, "food flashes" and the like.
