Thumbs up

Did anyone watch Saturday's show? I missed it and watching it today,I noticed Eileen (the Black Widow) had gone. How did she do?

Is anyone else becoming really irritated by this show,or is it only me?
It seems that in order to pass the auditions for this show, you have to demonstrate that you are a 'people-person' and a bit of a 'character'.
All the men,as in 'Millionaire', seem to be completely up themselves, and Edmonds appears to have the task of stoking their egos, whilst at the same time building up a non-existent mystique for the games 'tactics'.
On Saturday we had the delight of seeing the self-proclaimed expert and master tactician,John, walk away with a tenner after turning down,I think, £22,000+.Throughout he had the air of a man who regarded himself as the chosen one,and had convinced himself, and others, that there is a system for playing this game.Even better,Edmonds then proceeded to ramble on about John's proving that it's not the winning, but the way you play the game.Apparently,it's not a big-money game- show,it's the Olympics.Hilarious, fatuous,self-serving tosh.
Today,Monday,we had to put up with an even bigger egotist, who, armed with a self-help book, put on a revolting exhibition of attention-seeking,aided and abetted by Edmonds, who appeared to be building him up as the new Messiah. As usual, the moment when the 100K and 250K amounts went in quick succession, was greeted with an atmosphere suggestive of the audience's collective granny dying, and much proclamation of ill-luck.
I didn't see very much of this show in the beginning,so I don't know whether this style has evolved, but it's bloody annoying, particularly when the contestants look at the board as if it were a chess match, and then after
much chin-stroking,offer an expert's opinion.Doh! It's a game of chance!
My conclusion is that the idea behind this show is brilliant and simple, but it's current presentation makes it watchable only by recording and fast-forwarding.

I only record the show - and wish that ALL contestants come away with as little as possible. I see them as all greedy b******s, who want something for nothing - I am on the side of the "banker".

Oh how I laughed, when John turned down £25K and came away with a tenner, how I roared with mirth as today's pseudo-spiritual contestant spouted on as how the money didn't matter, he just wanted to "play the game" (yeah, right!), but was mightily pissed off when the two biggest sums turned up in boxes he chose.

Unfortunately he won 10K, but turned down £44K - I wish they would all win 1p

I thought Paul yesterday was going up the swannee, but he came away with £24,000. I think the women do better on this show than the men,and I have found the "tacticians" on the sidelifes tend to come a cropper when they are in the seat.

I can't see this now having a long shelf life, Noel Edmonds attempts at sycophancy and the dramatic pause really do pall and as for when he says "you have a spiritual aura" please pass the sick bag. He is fond of talking about the pyschology of it, well the only way that will happen is if Brad Pitt or Halle Berry stands by the board and every time £15,000 or over is picked they take off an item of clothing, then we'll see greed, sex and hoping the poor sod in the seat goes away with a blue figure.

regards

Oh, I'm so happy!!

Smary git Mike unfortunately didn't win 1p - but £1 was near enough.

What an irritating, unfunny detestable little oik he is.

Good riddance

Have to agree -

By far the most unlikeable contestant I've seen on the show (I've not seen them all.)

Made me when he blew it !

Poor Germaine didn't take that one last step on Tuesday. He had £250,000 all the time in his box - but is now £75,000 better off.

Do you think that it is possible for anyone to win the 250....only a fool or a bulging wallet would no deal a final offer that has to be good if the 250 is still in play???

I do not see how it is possible. Even if your last two boxes were 250k and 100k and your offer was 175k would you gamble 75k on 50/50?

That would depend on how fat your wallet is but for me ....no way. The program is however the onle one i can think of where you are sure to come away in profit, even if only by 1p... [

Considering it has only been on since October it certainly has achieved a large allocation on

Well it is a huge international franchise (by Endemol, the game's inventors)
See Wikipedia root article & country specific versions about the variations of the game in different countries.

Oh God!
On Saturday arrived the moment I had been dreading - a whole hour of the shrieking,prancing,primped,preening,pleated,pony-tailed,posturing exhibitionist known as Marcus.
As soon as I first saw him weeks ago, I thought, 'Peter Kaye faux documentary about grotesque chorus-boy auditioning for ingenu.............with an eye on "Big Brother" '.
Last week the porky plonker was drawing attention to himself by wearing a heavyweight knotted scarf - in a TV studio! Shades of tiresome Tony Wilson and his overcoat.
Sad to say the over- moisturised one managed to win a few quid, but that won't matter so much to him as the opportunity to showcase himself as a daytime TV presenter. In addition he managed to strike a few reflective, close-up, full-head poses with his finger on his chin - very redolent of Linda Darnell,I thought.
Why didn't I change channels?Well I tried to.....but the whole ghastly episode was horribly mesmeric. When we were teenagers,in icy weather we used to go the Kensington roundabout on the Western Avenue, there to watch the idiot drivers approaching at sixty mph and then braking hastily with the inevitable results.Same thing - car-crash,literal or figurative.
Is there any chance of a normal,personable,non-egotist being selected for a game-show in the future?

Not while people keep on watching. Car crash TV or not, they've still hooked you.
