I've seen one show, and I must admit, apart from the bearded gnome who I'd gladly throttle, I liked the format too. I'm not sure it has got 'stickability' though - how many shows are people going to watch before tiring of it? The point with Countdown and The Weakest Link etc is you can pit your brains against the contestants, and that commodity is lacking in Deal or No Deal. Still, well worth a watch and is very exciting.

My wife watches it and I usually catch the last ten minutes when I get home from work. It is a strange show but there is something different about it. I used to loathe Noel Edmunds in his Radio 1 and Noel's Houseparty era but now he seems to have come down to earth with a bump. He refrains from trying to be funny, which he never was or ever will be, and makes a good host for this show.

It must have taken some powers of persuasion to sell this game show to the TV company because on paper it's just a load of cardboard boxes with sums of money printed on the inside, and a contestant selecting them at random!

The show was sold as it is already a success in other countries. I have seen it in France and I think in Holland. The trouble with it is it takes very little skill and there is nothing for the viewer to do except guess what the offer will be

It looks like nearing or outranking Who Wants To Be A Millionairefor global sales and will get a peaktime slot in the New Year on Saturday nights. Mind,I felt sorry for that lad yesterday.

I find it strangely addictive - but what I don't understand is when the Edmonds says the contestant has been here for weeks, and what is the relationship between the contestant and the people opening the boxes, if any?

A bonny lass from Liverpool won £26,000 today, but she had dealt too early,as further offerings were £42,000 and £76,000. Her box contained £50,000. Still, better than a kick in the head...

With the board full of decent high numbers and the good luck she'd already experienced, I think in her shoes I would have continued because after the £26,000 offer there were still four very high numbers left! But it's a lot easier to make such decisions when you're sat at home!

It's all swings & roundabouts at the moment. A young lass won £41,000 on Friday, and yesterday a woman seemed ot be on course to win big amounts, turned down £30,000,but ended up with £4,000. I could have cried for her.

It is always best to deal with 8 boxes left if you are being offered good amounts. Your offer primarily depends on your high box, and with 8 boxes left you have roughly 40% chance of taking it out. Would you gamble £30k on those odds? I personally would accept first offer over 25k.

Poor Geordie went away with only £20. His style of choosing was his let down (going from left to right). I have found that those who show a bit of a bravura on the side, tend to do badly when their time comes. As for Geordie, despite his arrogance,I did feel sorry for him.
