Harry Enfield and Chums too. For me Ted and Ralph, Swiss Toni, Suits You, Unlucky Alf, Arthur Atkinson, Rowley Birkin etc had more longevity and were far better written. There were also those we could all recognise with like Competitive Dad and the Off-Roaders; they even spoofed themselves with Colin the catchphrase king.

Imho Little Britain doesn't posses the same depth of strong characters. I'll get my coat...

It has become successful after being in obscurity tucked away on Radio 4 and then on Freeview, then all of a sudden people start talking about it and now it's on prime time BBC1 and repeated twice in the same week.

It's like everything else in this world from football to laminated flooring, as soon as something like this becomes popular there is an element of "cashing in" and as long as people are told that it is good, then they think it is. Inevitably you get a lot of padding out (not just in the nude fat woman costumes) and repetition, and the money takes over. Celebrities are clamouring over each other now to be associated with the show which is a sure kiss of death, and just like laminated flooring, people will soon tire of it and want to go back to carpets!

Just like its predecessors it will eventually fizzle out, and I don't know about you but I rarely watch repeats of Python, The Fast Show, Not the Nine O Clock News or Harry Enfield because they just don't stand the test of time (in my opinion).

No doubt Little Britain will be forgotten soon when the trend wears off, and the sales of DVDs, books, scripts, national live tours have brought in enough lovely cash! In a few years time another bunch of drama students will get a show on the BBC offering something similar with variations on the same theme, but the next one will have more shock value! Perhaps someone defecating or squeezing blackheads, wow, or saying the "f" word!

I enjoy the performances in Little Britain but it's not particularly ground breaking humour, but I do find some of the characters very funny. But as my grandmother would have said to the two chaps "You'll be old yourself one day!"

Nope, I don't get LITTLE BRITAIN I'm afraid. It struck me as a rehash of Dick Emery who himself would get a commission for 6 shows and trot out the same gags each week. No difference.

Humour is of course totally subjective. The BBC political satire show THE THICKOF IT totally cracked me up. The language would make a docker blush, but the word is it mirrors Westminster. The proximity of the Malcolm character to a certain governmental Burnley supporting spin doctor is uncanny, and when he walked into a press conference and growled "What's the story in balli-f*cking-more" I almost fell off my sofa. It's going to be reshown over the xmas period, and I for one will be setting the old DVD-Recorder.
