I imagine that most people who keep pets are guilty of pampering and spoiling them (why else have them?) but the behaviour of the two couples on last night's "Pets are People" (BBC2) really took the dog-biscuit. Not only did they dress their dogs in hats, t-shirts and bootees (to the obvious distress of the animals) but, when they had to be boarded out, they packed suitcases for them which included collections of soft toys and nappies! One dog was even taken in to a posh restaurant where he snacked at a table to the obvious disapproval of the other diners.
What surprised me the most, however, was that both the dog-owning couples featured in the programme seemed to be worth a packet. Perhaps they run businesses catering for people with equally puerile attitudes.

Straight out of Fawlty Towers bangers-ala-bang episode.

On the subject of pooches I watched Three Men in a Boat on BBC2, some lovely scenary en-route but the lazy buggers towed a lift far too frequently.

Very pleasant. At least they didn't try to pretend they'd rowed the whole way.

That chap didn't like being asked if it was a gin palace, did he?

Apparently, there were a number of complaints because of Rory's somewhat colourful language - although I'd expect that from a gooner

I only caught the second half, up to Oxford, shown yesterday - I thought it was very funny indeed, especially when they fell out with each other

During a visit to the tea-shop at Richmond Park some years ago, a cravatted gent and his blue rinsed missus were sat enjoying afternoon cream tea.
A third seat was also occupied by...........................a teddy bear!
Teddy was also enjoying a cup of tea, cucumber sandwiches and scones.
Bonkers, these Chelsea types!
