Hi there.

For my review website I watched Gilbert Gunn's The Strange World of Planet X. I did hear good reports about this but was sadly disappointed. Dull perfomances, poor script and leaden direction by Gunn. I didn't know until recently that Gunn was from my neck of the woods in Central Scotland (he was born in Glasgow). Anyway the most striking thing about the film was that it actually looked about 15 years older than its 1957 copyright date. A couple of interesting gore scenes unfortunately fail to liven it up. The Trollenberg Terror is a lot better. An interesting point is that the movie is not based on the TV serial but rather credits the book by actress Rene Ray.

Is anyone familiar at all with the original 1956 serial made for TV under the Saturday Serial umbrella? It actually shared the same director, Quentin Lawrence with the Trollenberg movie.

Cheers.

Iain
