Speaking personally, I have a preference for Margaret Rutherford in the role
Regards
Phil Turner
I loved Margaret Rutherford and I liked her Miss Marple films, but they were made for laughs.

This is dire stuff.Who is it being made for,the viewers or the production team?Very self-indulgent.
I wonder if these episodes count towards ITV's much vaunted 'single drama output'?

And IMO Margaret Rutherford was the original and best.
Read something interesting about Margaret Rutherford recently. Seems her family name was actually Benn. (Tony Benn the politician was Margaret's cousin.)
Margaret Rutherford's father William Benn murdered her grandfather just before she was born and as a result of this tragedy she was christened with her mother's maiden surname - Rutherford.
I do not know whether her father was executed for the crime.
Does anyone have any further information?

Dave.

Agreed,Jacky. ITV tends to ride on big star names (well, big in British tv terms):Robson Green,Caroline Merton,Martin Clunes, any of the McGann bros, any of the Kemp bros,Ross Kemp etc rather than a decent scriptwriter. Now I have read that Patrick Stewart's Eleventh Hour has been axed through poor ratings.

Caroline Merton? She was never credited as that and she and Paul divorced in 1998.
She's had two sprogs with her new partner.

"Ross Kemp etc rather than a decent scriptwriter"
Another typo? Did you mean "Ross Kemp rather than a decent actor"?

Not watched any of these the trailers are surely enough to put anyone off plus the "star" names in the cast Dawn French, Ross Kemp etc is another reason not to view Plus the much advertised news that they have sexed these up (no sex please we are British) I'll keep watching the excellent Hickson Marple's and the amusing but not in the same league Rutherford versions

Many thanks FELL

Very interesting information. Margaret Rutherford thankfully didn't appear to inherit her fathers mental illness.

Cheers

As Eric Morcambe would have said "I didn't know that". So, they've dropped 11th Hour have they? Why is it that all those programmes I like get dropped? B*****s! I like old Stewart, and it's good to see him on this side of the pond.

Nice detective work Fel, on the Rutherfords.

Good morning boys.
