good evening all

A thousand apologies if this is an old topic but,,,,,,,,,is anyone else fed up of the massive hike in volume

everytime the commercials start? I cant help but reach for the remote to drown the noise.

In the viewers letters section of an old copy of "TV Times" someone wrote to complain and was fobbed

off by the relevent party at that time. It was a case of, if you don't like it hard luck!!

You can buy a gizmo here in Canada that fits on the TV. It recognises the sudden rise in audio level and immediately normalises it.
You should be able to get one in UK

Make sure it has connectors that you can use.
We don't tend to use "standard RCA (red and white) audio cables" very much in the UK

I think the problem is worldwide Piroflip2.
The same problem arises on commercial stations here in Australia.
At one time the channels in question denied such an increase in volume for commercials and blamed individual television sets and viewers hearing.
After a steady increase in viewers complaints the stations eventually admitted that they did indeed increase volume output for their commercials. Yet nothing has ever been done and we're still stuck with the loud commercial breaks.
Same thing seems to happen in cinemas when commercials or film promotions are played.
I still cannot see how an increase in volume would make the average viewer go out and buy a product. Most times it would be viewed as a turn-off. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry.gif[/img]

A lot of them don't actually raise the volume but use audio compression techniques so that sunjectively it seems louder but when you measure it, it still passes the regulators rules. This is more noticible when you come out of a quiet passage in the film straight into a very loud advert.

In the UK you can complain to OFCOM and/or the ASA

If you complain it's not guaranteed that anyone will do anything about it.
But if you don't complain it is guaranteed that nobody will do anything about it. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif[/img]

Not only are they too loud; there are too many of them. They cram more in in a short space of time because they talk all over the credits of other programmes that just ending. AND why for heaven's sake do they have to advertise the next programme just before the :thumbdown show the blessed thing? [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbdown.gif[/img]
