One of the big disadvantages of watching the hoary old films that channel4 broadcasts on many afternoons is that the commercial breaks assail us with advertisements for Stannah chair lifts, gadgets to lift the frail and elderly out of the bath, health schemes insurances etc., etc. It doesn't seem very long ago that I used to think that it would be a long time before I would need any of those such things; now I've started to take interest. At least they seem to have stopped showing the ad. for the funeral expenses savings plan which offered those who joined it a "charming carriage clock" as another reminder of how quickly time flies. Ah,the high-quality Wanklyn Mint carriage-type clock!
A deal-clincher to be sure!
Have you noticed that they never make mention of the price of any of these geriatric-friendly gadgets?
That could be because everything starts at about about 3 grand.
Apparently they do offer to buy back the stairlift from you................when you are taken into care......or should you die.
So much to look forward to...and soon in my case.
