I read that ITV are making it hand over fist with TV advertising. I'm not surprised - last Sunday we were watching some adverts and the y actually threw in some scenes from Midsomer Murders! What a novel idea - actually showing some programmes. AND NOW they are talking of a fifth ITV channel - glory and hallelujah! MORE bloody advertising!

OK, before somone replies, I know we get these channels free, becaue of the ads, but for land's sake, let's have a few less

I used to record stuff and edit out the adverts, but now I edit out the rubbish programmes and just watch the adverts and play "guess the voiceover actor". Tesco must be making too much profit to be able to afford David Jason, Kathy Burke, Kevin Whateley, Martin Clunes et al. One more reason to shop at Morrisons instead, and boycott Tesco. At least they only have to fork out for Sean Bean!

Ahh then you should travel to North America. 5 mins of prog 7 mins of adverts. Many times the ads have been so long I've forgotten what I was watching.
Thank God for my HUGE stash of Brit programs on DVD, a multi system VCR / DVD and a brother who sends regular supplies of Brit DVD movies and TV with the ads edited out

Australia is just the same Pustice.
The main gripe I have though is with pay television here. Initially promoted as having multi choice programming without the commercials, I have noticed over the years how more and more commercials are creeping into the schedules. We already pay top dollar for pay programs yet are told by the channels that without commercials we would be paying even more for the service.
It's a cop out and nothing more than major profiteering.
Apart from the normal commercials there is nothing worse than having a decent program interupted by the channels just so they can show a promo for another program.

My written complaints to the BBC were disregarded and as it was my money they were spending, I took the only alternative left and prevented them using my money. A brave step I thought at the time, but do you know what? I don't miss it at all. I spend my licence fee by hiring DVDs from Tesco on-line and watch what I want to watch when I want to watch it. Life is so much better.
I would do the same if I were suddenly thrown into being single again! It is certainly worth trying; but I'd get earache from the in-laws, et al; so in the meantime, thank heaven for video, dvd, etc.
