This was a classic series and hopefully will appear on DVD at some time . I saw Richard Griffiths in a play recently and reminded me of this 1982 Programme .
It was a rather taut thriller taking the Hitchcock premise of ordinary man caught up in a conspiracy. My memory is rather hazy on the details - something about plans for a Channel Tunnel? Richard Griffiths played a Computer Programmer who happens upon evidence of wrongdoing. His life is turned upside down and people around him start to die ( An early use of Halon as a weapon is notable) . The tension is ratchetted up as he doesnt know who to trust . There is a very British Military Type who is especially menacing in a Ols chool way. As I recall he manages to stay alive at the end by a very ingenious method.
PLOT SPOILER!!!!
He puts a code into the system connecting all computers ( not sure if they had the Net in those Days? ) which has to be re-input every week or all the Info on the Conspiracy will automatically send to the Media.
A Repeat or DVD please, BBC!
