Smile Double acts

I read a feature in yesterdays Daily Mail magazine about a new programme called The History Of Light Enmtertainment. It seemed that some of the double acts have had some acrimonious endings:
Mike & Bernie Winters
Little & Large
Peter Cook & Dudley Moore.

Whereas Morecambe & Wise and The Two Ronnies all remained good friends until death parted their ways.

Eric Morecambe: (when asked what he and Ernie would like to be if they weren't comedians) "Mike & Bernie Winters"
Ta Ta
Marky B:)

I once shot an elephant in my pyjamas - how he got in my pyjamas,I'll never know

The programme was on last night and was generally positive, not lingering on acrimonious break-ups at all. But trust a newspaper to concentrate on the bad news.

As a latecomer to this thread, I'd like to say what a thoroughly enjoyable and well researched series The History of Light Entertainment has been. Last Saturday's episode traced the history of radio; from ITMA through to Hancock and right up to the present day. The list of contributors was impressive, and the revelations about Simon Dee (amongst others) were handled in a subtle rather than sensational way. The first episode on double acts was excellent, but this was just as interesting. I hope the quality can be maintained right up until the end of the series.

Regards
Phil Turner
