Default Your opinion please, on Films in Nottingham

The way Nottingham has been portrayed in film since the 60's is a very industrial, dark, bleak northern city where it's inhabitants can only put up with what they've got - or wish for something better. Films such as Saturday night - Sunday morning, The Ragmans Daughter, TwentyFourSeven, One for the Road and Dead Mans Shoes all contain images and language that suggests working class poverty combined with dreams of wanting something more.

Over the past few years there has been a huge amount of financial investment in Nottingham and developments have taken place to make the place appear more fashionable, exciting and cosmopolitan.

Do you think that Nottingham will ever be seen in film to be anything other than northern, bleak and miserable?

All feedback will be welcomed!

At least the Robin Hood films don't show it as industrial.
But in them it's still usually dark, bleak, Northern & miserable :
