Default Old TV programmes

a long time ago . . . I remember watching two programmes at the weekend, one started with the acker bilk song strangers on the shore and i think the programme had the same title. I think it always opened at a seaside cafe?? does anyone know what the series was about?

The second programme had the opening scene of an alsation running behind a lorry and eventually leaping on top of the lorry - the name radar springs to mind but don't know if this was the name of the dog or the series.

Anyone throw any light on this, please?

The first is presumably:
STRANGER ON THE SHORE | A TELEVISION HEAVEN REVIEW
I vaguely recall watching it as a kid, but it's all scrambled up with "Whistle Down the Wind" - not sure why

following Moor Larkin's lead, you'll find that Strangers on the shore was first aired in 1961. I think 625 - line tv was introduced in 1964, therefore I suppose the series was broadcast on 405 line?!

Two spring to mind for the second programme. First "THE PURSUERS" 1961 with Louis Hayward as Det.Insp. Steve Bollinger and his dog Ivan. This also starred the unforgetable named Gaylord Cavallaro as DS Steve Wall. Second "THE LITTLEST HOBO" 1963 This came from Canada and the dogs name was London.

The Pursuers definitely rings a bell. was Ivan an alsation? Not the right programme if it was on in the evening - i wouldn't have been allowed to stay up too late in 1961! However i think i'll investigate this programme further. Thanks for the lead.
