I'm sorry to hear that, Smudge. They both always seemed very nice and, of course Anna and Barbara Windsor have been mates for years.

I've just bought a cd of '60's' adverts and there is a few seconds worth of what looks like the start of an 'On The Buses', however the cartoon bus is RED not GREEN and there is a cartoon ticket machine too dispensing a ticket with Luxton & District.

Now the use of that title on the ticket means its the TV series and not the films (which were Town and District) but the sequence does not appear on any of the episodes that are in the boxed set. so does anyone know anything about them?

Hmm, odd one that, it's certainly the OTB theme tune.

I also have the complete Buses box set and must say that I have not seen your clip before.

Maybe it was a television promo for the series.

Notice how the title music is different too. Normally the bell rings before the theme tune starts and is not normally heard amongst the music as on the clip.

Starring Dom DeLuise - not in the gloomy "Blakey" role but as Stan Butler (called Stanley Belmont in this)

The American version didn't last very long - despite being nominated for a Golden Globe. It's never been shown here but if you really want to see it you can buy it from places like Amazon.com

But did they drive red double decker buses in the US version?

I suspect that there were no conductors used on US buses either.

    Hi Guys

Just wondering if one of you kind "Poms" might help with some info on the name and contact details for the company which distributes the OTB series dvd's please.

I want to buy multiple copies (new and sealed) of seasons 5, 6, 7 and they just aren't for sale here in Australia.

I see that some UK sellers are selling them on places like eBay and Amazon etc, but i'd like to bypass them profiteers and go straight to the company who is distributing them.

Failing that, does anyone know details of one of the bigger discount type shops/businesses that are selling these dvd's in the UK ?

Any info would be very much appreciated.

    Dave -

It is Network DVD - Network DVD but they may advise you that the discs aren't available in your territory because of rights issues. See how you go.

I must get series one with Cicely Courtenidge I havent see this series since it was first tramsitted it would be interesting to compare her performance with Doris Hare. I would also be intrigued to see the final series in whcih Reg Varvey leaves the show after a couple of episodes,

I must admit that I saw the movies,"On The Buses." and "Mutiny On the Buses" on Itv 3 at chrstmas and I was mainly watching to take the mickey but I ended up genuinely enjoying both of them.

There are some good sites on the web r regarding the show and its obvious that the show is remebmered with affection with hardly any trace of irony, which is fair enough, it might have not have been sophisticated fare but brings back nothing but warm memories for a golden era of television which will never return.

I love On The Buses. Along with Till Death Do Us Part this is probably my all time favourite comedy series. Anna Karen often appears in EastEnders these days as Peggy Mitchell's sister.

Yes, Anna and Barbara are old mates, I don't watch Eastenders as a rule but I'd tune in for any episodes Anna is in, I'm also kicking myself for missing episodes the evergreen Toni Palmer was in last year, better keep an eye on the weekly cast list!.........Toni has also sung on Stage with the legendary Judy Garland when she lived in London.......
