Created by football chieftain Terry Venables! The last time I saw Nicholas Ball (once married to Pamela Stehpenson), was on an advert in which he played the father of a family who appeared on a quiz show and he forgot to tape it.
Anyway, back to Hazell:James Hazell was a cop who had to take early retirement due to injury, turned to drink, lost his marriage, but after drying up,became a private eye. He was aided by his cousin Tel (Desmond McNamara) and a former partner "Choc" Minty (Roddy McMillan) and enjoyed the glamorous side of being a PI (I remember him bedding the wife of a client {an actor who I can see his face, but I can't remember his full name George...something}). A la Phillip Marlowe,James Hazell narrated the stories. It was based on the books by El Tel (now the manager of a fictional Sun cartoon strip football team),who co-helped the transition to the small screen with Gordon Williams. Maggie Bell had two unsuccessful flirts with the UK charts in 1978 with Hazell, the theme song, reaching only 37 and 74 in 1978.
I hope that is of some service to you Decks
