My home town isn't know for it's use as a film location.

The nearest I can think of is a Lenny Henry road-trip drama

from the 80's that used a nearby location, a cafe on the

    A580.

I am curious if anyone else remembers it and what it's called ?

The cafe was opposite carr mill dam, now closed down but still standing.

They were driving an old ice cream van.

Done up to carry their disco equipment in.

On the run after receiving some plates used forging notes.

Ah, the cafe at Carr Mill. The archetypal British greasy spoon cafe. Didn't realize it was closed, but then it was always one of those places that looked abandoned even when it was open.

Great film - a favourite of mine. I was lucky enough to have had a VHS copy of the original broadcast (albeit a ropey one) until about four years ago.

The ice cream van was a Bedford HA, which I seem to remember, they later swapped for a Mark IV Zephyr or Zodiac estate.

There were also appearances by George Baker, Peter Vaughn (complete with a bag full of surgeons tools) and Pete Postlethwaite.
