    What a weird coincidence -- I too haven't looked/posted here in ages.

I never realised the book was still available but I'll certainly try to get hold of a copy.

Your own book sounds interesting -- you mentioned Amazon or direct from you does

that mean you have a website or something?

Over the years when old TV programs have come up in conversation I'm always amazed

that so many people remember Intruder. It definitely had that special "something".

In our house it was a "must watch" for the whole family.

Wouldn't it be great if one of the satellite channels did a re-run.

Anyone any ideas how we could lobby them?
You're probably wasting your time lobbying them - I tried that years ago and it has something to do with rights etc, stuff I don't know much about. But good luck anyway if you do (it's Granada TV you need to speak to).

My book is one of poetry, set in Ravenglass, the Cumbrian seaside village used in the series (it was known as Skirlston in the story. My book is priced £4.99 plus £1 postage - details on Amazon or post here for more details.

So glad that you, too, enjoyed 'The Intruder'.

Thanks for the quick response. Give me more details I'm sure

Amazon don't need their profits swelling...

Maybe we should get organised and try Granada again - after all

even I'm getting fed-up of the same repeated repeats so some

    more material wouldn't go amiss.

Hi cah55 - if you would like a copy of my book, please send a cheque for £5.99 payable to John Gilder at 12 Shadowbrook Close, Oldham, Lancs, OL1 2UE, enclosing your address.

I purchased episode 8 (the final episode) about five years ago from Granada TV and it was a whopping £250 per DVD then.

I also have the first two episodes on DVD and video.

cah55 - the title of my book is Fractured Hearts: Ravenglass - A Lake District Village in Poems and Pictures. The book is A5, paperback and contsins over 40 colour images of the village.

It is essentially a story of life, love, loss and nature.

And all inspired by 'The Intruder'.

I remember watching this series as a child. It had quite a scary and dark atmosphere and the Milton Johns character whose photo appeared earlier was really sinister. Others have described the programme as “The Intruder”. My memory – which could be faulty 40 years on – is that I saw it once without paying a lot of attention to it (presumably the 1972 showing) but it was then shown a second time with slightly different credits and titled “The Pilot”. ITV regions often behaved differently and as we lived in Essex at the time this would have been the London / South East ITV region. The repeat would have been in ~1975 as I taped the theme music on my cassette recorder and wrote “The Pilot” in the notes.

The first episode has been released on this Network compilation:
    Look-Back on 70s Telly - Issue 3: Network DVD
I hope this means that there are no rights problems preventing a release of the full series.
