I remember short films from the 60s which I think appeared as fillers in the children's TV slot. They featured animated Bendy toys performing either 'Hole in the Ground' by Bernard Cribbins or 'The Yellow Rose of Texas' by Stan Freeberg. Does anyone else remember them, and were there any others?

There was an animation as well ....

YouTube - 'The Hole In The Ground' - BERNARD CRIBBINS - 7" 1962

This not the original animation, but it is still funny ....

YouTube - The Hole in the Ground

Then, of course, there is this ....

YouTube - 'RIGHT SAID FRED' - BERNARD CRIBBINS 1960s Animated Video

Thanks for the links, Batman. I'd forgotten about the Right Said Fred animation (or maybe that's the one I was thinking of, not Hole in the Ground). I think the figures used were Bendy Toy Gonks - I remember thinking as a kid that it was a bit cheap not making their own puppets!

Gonks! don't get me started on Gonks!

    I didn't have a gonk:

but I did have a troll:

I don't remember TV Tivvy, but I do remember Muriel Young and Wally Whyton with Ollie Beak and Pussycat Willum between the programmes.

Did you keep a comb in your satchel so you could comb its hair too?

We always called the little hard ones 'trolls' and the big round soft ones 'gonks'.
