I think it was introduced by Alan Freeman and featured groups and singers from the 60's.
I also think Mike Redway, and Elaine Paige (amongst others) were also featured, doing cover versions of hits.

yes i think you were right especially about alan fluff freeman
Anyone recall this show ( I think it was called "Unforgetable")from the 80's on
channel 4 or BBC2, ( I forget "sorry"). There was a dodgy resident band & stars
from the 60's sang their hits & most of them were live. I remember Chris Farlowe
doing a great rendition of "Out of Time". Acts like Crispian St Peters & Clem
Curtis were among the others that were on!
Hosted by Alan (not arf) Freeman.
I remember Elaine Paige and Mike Redfern were resident singers, and featuring
varied pop acts from the 60's.
I worked on this show. It was filmed at a nightclub called 'Cinatras' in Croydon. The producer of the show was Mike Morton who was the owner of the night club. As far as I can remember 'The Mike Morton band' was the resident band each week and Alan 'fluff' Freeman was the host. My job was a cable monkey for one of the roving camera men. I remember Rosemary Clooney was a guest one week singing 'This old house' and she slipped down the stairs. Another guest was Gloria Gaynor. It was good fun to work on but unfortunately unlike the title it was instantly forgettable.
I remember this! PJ Proby turned up on it, and as you say, Billy Fury not that long before he died. And poor Rosemary Clooney, the size of a house. Basically it was not that good, but probably did spark the revival circuit that has become quite lucrative for 1960s performers.
Yes the great Billy Fury looked painfully thin and not very well, Im sure I've still got the VHS tape of him on it.,
