I've found that much of this series about Medieval Britain has been fascinating. They did a programme with Michael Wood the other night but this one with Alixe Bovey exploring and following the Gough Map has been superb

Which was the Michael Wood programme? Clearly I missed it, but I think he's great, and not on TV nearly enough these days....

    Christina: A Medieval Life

Historian Michael Wood presents a portrait of ordinary people living through extraordinary times, tracing the story of a real-life peasant of 14th-century Hertfordshire. She wasn't a famous person, or of noble blood, yet Christina's story is important in understanding our own roots. In this time of war, famine, floods, climate change and the Black Death are the beginnings of the end of serfdom, the growth of individual freedom and the start of a market economy.

In case you missed it on BBC4, Michael Wood on Beowulf. Thankfully, Ray Winston isn't mentioned....
