Anyone read the revelation about Peter Purves and Val Singleton.... I woz shocked - pass me a large one please!

Apparently it happened on location (while Noakesy was probably saying 'Down Shep') ...just which location do we think it happened at?

Today's teletext... I nearly choked on my Shredded Wheat this morning when I read this...

    'I'm not gay' says Singleton

Former Blue Peter presenter Valerie Singleton has dismissed long-standing rumours that she's gay and revealed she had an affair with Peter Purves.

Colleague Purves was among a string of men Singleton claims to have had flings with, including film star Albert Finney.

The broadcaster, now 71, was linked to lesbian singer Joan Armatrading, but said it was "an outright lie".

This programme has long been a hotbed of scandal. Does anyone recall the Great Ginger Beer affair in 1965 ?

Christopher Trace showed us kids how to brew home-made ginger beer.

Well, two problems. Firstly bottles started exploding pantry doors off across the nation.

Secondly, it was pretty alcoholic. Mothers were coming home to find little Johnny laughing hysterically and peeing on the tortoise.

I swear, it was all in the papers.

While it is news to me,it doesn't surprise me. The only thing that did surprise me was that Joan Armatrading was a lesbian.

Joan's been 'out' for many years. I saw her in concert several times furing the 70s and 80s .... a superb writer and performer.

Didn't Valerie Singleton have some connection with a 'nudist' film of the early 1960s (commentary, perhaps ?)

I'm fairly sure it was a commentary rather than appearing in front of the camera.

Val - lost Lesbian icon (including the origin of the Armatrading story)

And with perfect syncroncity John Leslie is questioned by the boys in blue again. Quite how you prove such allegations over a decade after the alleged assault is a bit puzzling.

    I totally agree.

I have long thought that there should be a time limit on all abuse allegations because, without any forensics, it is only one person's word against another's.

Didnt Val once have a thing with Pete Murray?

I am also fairly certain that Lesley Judd was once married to Derek Fowlds.

Mick Robertson and Jenny Handley once lived in sins above a laundrette in Wigan(probably an urban myth)
