"The way in which our entire broadcasting system has functioned for decades since 1955 is now under very serious threat. It will be very different indeed. It may be better, but I somehow doubt it," said Simpson.



Absolutely correct. The BBC has to evolve. For example; the licence fee funding system needs to be scrapped and replaced by a subscription service. Also, why does the BBC feel the need to have 4 national TV channels, 7 national radio channels, other specialised channels, numerous orchestra's, choirs, a 24 hour a day "rolling" news service, vast levels of management and the wanton desire to reward their presenters with gargantuan salaries?
