Purely for the humour. It is campy and doesn't take itself at all seriously. Dept S is probably more credible but doesn't quite achieve its own aims for me.
I don't mind it at all but find Jason King hilarious and it passes the time more enjoyably.

The Adventurer is one I'm yet to catch up on but that recommendation has bumped it up the list a little, cheers!

DS x.
Rising Damp - truely wonderful.
R.I.P. Leonard Rossiter.
It`s good to hear Don Warrington`s voice on a new car ad, although I can`t remember which car it`s advertsing.
I always enjoyed watching Rising Damp, and still do on ITV3, but the episodes without Frances de a Tour wern`t half as good.
The character of Brenda never impressed me much.
Did anyone catch the British Comedy Heroes about Rossiter which was on the other day? As well as clips a plenty from Rising Damp and Reginald Perrin it even managed a quick look at Tripper's Day and of course Le Petomane.
He was really a revelation though in the BBC Shakespeare King John in which he took the lead role. It might have been one of the last things he did. Despite his comedy pedigree it think it was one of his best.
Rising Damp though, although inevitably dated in some of its references and characterisations, is still great fun.
Didi,
I saw this and what a most impressive profile it was. It was great to hear Rossiter speak at length about his career and colleagues. I knew his stage debut was in my old home town of Preston but I didn't realise until seeing this programme that the theatre became (the now disappeared) C&A store in Friargate!
It was first broadcast in the 1990s Michelle; Don Warrington looks a bit older now but still very striking indeed!
