All i can remember about this one is turtle-like creatures that jump down on people from trees. If they are cut, say, with an axe, they have vanilla pudding on the inside. Might be a Hammer flick, Maybe Peter Cushing. Sorry, my childhood was so long ago.

It's not Fiend Without a Face (1958) is it?
They were "flying brains" though they could be interpreted as turtles perhaps
